The UCF/DSI C2 Carbonaceous Chondrite Simulant was a chemical simulant based on the Tagish Lake ungrouped C2 meteorite. It was also known under the name UCF/DSI-C2-1.
To produce the simulant, individual mineral components were sourced and prepared, then mixed together with water. The resulting mixture was dried to remove the water, then mechanically ground in a rock crusher to achieve the desired particle size distribution.
The simulant was produced as part of a NASA SBIR grant to create realistic asteroid simulants.
